The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia, Mikheil Batiashvili and Deputy-Minister Giorgi Vashakidze paid a visit to David Tvildiani Medical University on October 1, 2019.
The meeting was attended by the University rector, Prof. Levan Tvildiani, academic personnel and students. The guests congratulated the University on the occasion of joining the EQAR (The European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education) database, and pointed out that DTMU is one of the first Georgian universities to achieve this milestone, and further universities will join soon.
Another topic discussed at the meeting was Georgia’s new membership in the EURAXESS Pan-European scientific initiative. Georgian scientists have an opportunity to apply for research funding in EURAXESS member states funds as well as in the Horizon 2020” programme.
The Deputy Minister delivered another news: as the higher medical education programmes will get accreditation they will join the “FAIMER” (Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research) medical database, which means that these programmes are in compliance with the World Health Organization standards and they will be recognized in Europe as well as in USA or Canada.
On its side, the University shared own news with the guests, primarily the plans of plastic surgery center opening in Kvariaty as well as construction of a new University campus from next year.
