On March 23rd, at David Tvildiani Medical University, the Gynecology interest group of Aieti’s (GIGA) third workshop was held. The workshop consisted of two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part of the workshop encompassed modern methods of contraception. During the practical part of the workshop, participants acquired necessary skills and learned how to insert an intrauterine device (IUD) and implant in practice dummies. Other methods of contraception like: diaphragm, cervical cap, sponge, vaginal ring, injection male and female condoms, were showcased to students. Also, a new type of activity was introduced - different medical cases were prepared and interested students shared their thoughts about management. The authors of the best responses (Tata Avalishvili (V year), Mariam Svanadze (III year) and Tornike Jashi (III year)) were awarded gifts.
The lecture was given by DTMU students: Mariam Jashi (GIGA founder and president), Gvantsa Kochiashvili and Ana Metreveli. The practical part was supervised by Mariam Jashi, Gvantsa Kochiashvili, Ana Metreveli, Keti Gvazava, Avtandil Kochiashvili and Mariam Jojua (Organisational Group of GIGA, all the tutors who took part in the workshop and every active member, all are students of Davit Tvildiani Medical University).
